Blues Notecard for Soracom

What’s Included in the Blues Starter Kit for Soracom:

  • Notecard Cell+WiFi (Global LTE Cat-1 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi)
  • Notecarrier F developer board
  • Swan (STM32-based host MCU)
  • Molex Dual Cellular and GPS Antenna

The Notecard Cell+WiFi included in the kit is designed for global use and utilizes a Telit LE910C1-WWXD modem that connects to LTE Cat-1 / WCDMA / GSM networks. For additional details see the Notecard Cell+WiFi datasheet. The Starter Kit has Soracom’s global connectivity solution as an embedded (MFF2) SIM soldered onto the Notecard.

Notecarrier F is a companion development board designed for rapid prototyping with Adafruit Feather-based host microcontrollers. It can be used with any Feather-compatible device and includes Qwiic ports for connecting I2C peripherals. See the Notecarrier F datasheet for additional details.

Swan is a low-cost, embeddable STM32L4-based microcontroller designed to accelerate the development and deployment of battery-powered IoT solutions. It is especially useful for applications requiring a large amount of memory or a high degree of I/O expandability at an affordable cost, such as edge inferencing or remote monitoring. See the Swan datasheet for additional details.

The flexible dual Cellular and GPS antenna has a supported frequency range of 698 MHz to 4.0 GHz with a u.FL terminator.

FAQs

What is a cellular system-on-module (SoM)?

A system-on-module (SoM) is a circuit board that integrates a system function on a single module/device. Unlike a single-board computer like the Raspberry Pi or a microcontroller, a SoM generally serves a single special function.

The Blues Notecard is a cellular SoM. The Notecard is a secure device-to-cloud data-pump that is a tiny SoM and ships ready to embed in a project via its m.2 connector to make prototyping IoT solutions even easier.

Does the Blues Notecard require a Notecarrier to function?

No! The Blues Notecard is a small 30mm x 35mm system on module (SoM) that is able to be embedded in any IoT project on its own via its M.2 edge connector.
